About Mauna Kea Galleries

Established in 1995, Mauna Kea Galleries is a predominant source for all Hawaiian and Polynesian artifacts , rare books, Hawaiiana and vintage paintings. A longtime passion for owners Mark and Carolyn Blackburn, the gallery is well known throughout the world for its vast inventory of rare objects from the "Fabled South Seas".

Mark Blackburn, the author of Hawaiiana: The Best of Hawaiian Design, Tattoos From Paradise, Hula Girls and Surfer Boys , Hula Heaven: The Queen's Album and Surf's Up, is a senior certified appraiser with over 30 years experience in the field. He has performed appraisals for individuals as well as for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Mission Houses and the Bishop Museums in Honolulu.

We always stock rare Hawaiian and Polynesian artifacts including items of daily use, sculpture, and weaponry. Mauna Kea Galleries' Hawaiiana collection is the world's largest and includes vintage Mings jewelry, Aloha attire, menus from Hawaii's "Golden Age", posters, ephemera , hula dolls and historical items. World renowned for our selection of rare books and engravings of Hawaii and the Pacific, our inventory always includes classics such as Captain Cook's Voyages and Isabella Bird's Six Months In the Sandwich Islands as well as many other popular titles.
